Summer Cocktails: A Homegrown Mint Cooler
I don't want you to get the wrong picture in your head... about a large garden. Let's reset the expectations... I should have titled this, my small herb garden. Our home was built on less than 1/10th of an acre in a planned unit development. And although we are on a very small lot, we love our home, neighborhood, and neighbors and make the most out of what we have. Hence, this is my herb garden, which I plant every year. Yes, it's in a pot!
I tried to warn you! :)
I love this little garden as it has everything I need; mint, rosemary, and basil. Fresh basil is for my "sauce", salads, drinks and more. I use rosemary at least once a week in different recipes and mint is a staple after I concocted my own special drink shared below:
The Zesty Mint Cooler
3 lemon slices, 3 lime slices, and Mint leaves muddled
1 1/2 fluid ounces of your favorite vodka (I like Tito's)
Soda Water of your choice and extra lime or lemon juice as needed for a cocktail glass
2 drops of Stevia ( I like Trader Joes)
Shake and pour over ice! You can adjust the tartness to your liking by adding more soda and lemon/lime juice. And if you are fresh out of limes and lemons, use pure lemon/lime juice with no sugar.
YUM!!
